Miscellaneous: She played and taught piano. She also played the
violin and the organ. She played for churches. She attended the Bishop Cathoune
College of Music in Lindsay, ON. She studied music in Europe just before
World War 1in 1914. The Calbury Family Bible gives her birth year as 1892.

William Thomas Calbury

Settled: Belleville, Ontario.
!Occupation: Plumber and tinsmith with W.T.Calbury & Son, Belleville.
He also held several patents on fuel saving devices for cars.
Information from his daughter Rosella. Information on occupation and patents from Lorne Bowerman, a nephew.

Rosella said: "Originally I believe my Dad's name was spelled Calberry, but at they went by Calbury we will go with that. Why or when the change I don't know. My own birth certificate showed the Calberry spelling when I sent for a copy of it. "


185. Verna Marion Calbury

According to Rosella, her sister, she lived only 48 hours and died from heart problems.


148. William Albert Bowerman

Settled: Belleville, Ontario area, Hay River, NWT, and various BC areas.
!Occupation: School teacher. Served in Canadian Army in World War II.
De-mobilized as a Captain. Taught school around Belleville, Ontario,
North-West Territories, and Northern British Columbia.

The Calbury Family Bible gives his names as "William Edgar Allen", while his sister Amy gives it as
"William Albert Radcliffe", with the Radcliffe being added by the Anglican minister as it was his name. His
Army records and all his children only knew him as "William Albert:.


Lorna Marie Peck

Miscellaneous: Married by the Rev. Earle, Minster of Christ Church
Anglican
in Belleville. She attended Sunday School there while working in
Belleville.
She was confirmed at St John's Anglican Church, Carrying Place, ON on
June 29,
1921. She received her first communion November 6, 1921.
She was very active in community work, and was given the great gift of
a green
thumb. Under her loving care, flowers flourished. For many years she
was the
major prizewinner for cut flowers at the Belleville Fair.
She was cremated after death on February 8, 1994 at the Belleville
Cemetery.
Her ashes were interred on May 7, 1994 in a grave plot between Bernice
and
Marjorie in the family plot. At the time of her death, she had 34
descendants.
She was divorced from William Albert Bowerman in 1952.
Her property, which was part of Lot 91 of Ameliasburgh Township, was
sold to
her grandson, Kevin Reid.
Her son Lorne Albert Bowerman was the administrator of her estate.


190. Merine Yvette Enid Bowerman

Raised: Northern Ontario and Albury.
Occupation: Day worker.
Miscellaneous: Twin of Yvonne. Died as a result of gagarene.


Gertrude Alberta (Sonny Joan) /Labreque

Miscellaneous: She remarried to Lloyd Hickey in 1972 after the death of William in 1971.
! She met William at Kingston during World War II when she was serving in the Army. After the War, she moved to Cochrane where William was teaching. She disappeared without telling her family in 1949. She claimed she was
Joan Van Peck, and it was only by accident that her real identity was known. Her brother, Rheal Labrecque, looked for her in vain until 1993 when through the efforts of her Son Gary and Lorne Bowerman, the truth became known. Her Mother and Father died without ever seeing their daughter again.
! She was known as "Sonny" by her parents.

The following death notice appeared in the January 22, 2000 Ottawa Citizen.
"Bowerman (Hickey), Gertrude (ne Labrecque}
Suddenly, January 8, 2000, at the age of 76. Born in Ottawa in 1923, passed away in Port Alberni, Vancouver Island. Mother of 4 sons, Allan, David, Gary, and Ken, and 3 daughters, Merine, Dorian, and Louise. She leaves 1 sister, Georgette (Richard); 1 brother, Rhéal (Zoila), and nephew Charles Labrecque. Gertrude served in the army during the war. She left Ottawa in November 1945. Service was held in the Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Port Alberni."


149. Amy Elizabeth Bowerman

Verified by individual. She was born in Pointe Anne, however, her
records
show that she was born in Tyendinaga, which is wrong. She was a school
teacher
by profession. She taught school at the Consolidated School at Elk
Lake, ON.


Elliot David Grieve

Miscellaneous: He was a messenger in Union Station in Toronto. He
was a
railwayman with Ontario Northland Railway. He retired as the Station
Master at
Elk Lake, ON. He moved to North Bay after retirement.


151. Byron Gideon Bowerman

Settled: Assiniboia, Saskatchewan.
!Occupation: Farmer: The History states that all the children reside
with the father, except for Byron G. who is a farmer in the new Province of
Saskatchewan.

Obituary states that he was resting at Belleville Burial Company from whence the funeral was held at 2:00 pm on Sunday August 3. His son, Albert Bowerman move back from Saskatchewan and was a community member during the late 1940s. I worked for him in a pea viner in 1945, 1946, and 1947. (Lorne Bowerman Jan 1998).
